Beautiful Poem

Yesterday, I was surprised not only by a beautiful poem, but by 2 books in the mail. I knew I hadn't purchased any books, and as soon as I opened the boxes and saw the titles I knew who had sent them. My beautiful friend, Sylwia.

I wanted to repost the poem she sent me, because it is simply amazing.

Invitation by Oriah

It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.

It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know
if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live
or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me
who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me
where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know
if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Thank you my friend. This poem touched me deeply.

Thank You, Universe

Thank you, Universe

Thank you for the gift of embodiment,
thank you for the life that runs through my bodily veins,
thank you for the opportunity to experience the magnificent atmosphere in this planet.

Thank you, Universe.

Thank you for the countless ways I was directed back to my true path,
thank you for guiding me to unveil my many facades and become transparent,
thank you for teaching me to live in utter vulnerability.

Thank you, Universe.

Thank you for the sound of laughter that makes my heart skip a beat,
thank you for leading every second of my life to the moment of pure ecstasy,
thank you for the honor of being a mom.

Thank you, Universe.

Thank you for the lesson of receiving,
thank you for the class in appreciation,
thank you for the inspiration and clarity that move me forward.

Thank you, oh Dear Universe.

For ever in gratitude and love.

Invictus

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul............. No matter how defeated we perceive ourselves to be, we are invictus.  We are beacons of light with a much bigger purpose than we give ourselves credit for.

You Are There

Amidst all the confusion
I'm reluctant to move forward
and find out it is all an illusion
you are there

There are times I have to decide
enveloped in self doubt
I realize there is no wrong or right
you are there

Rain or shine,
happy or sad,
dead or alive,
you are there

In a breath, a thought, an action,
a dream, a butterfly, a cloud,
a touch, a hug, my daughter's affection,
you are there

I am grateful for your lessons,
humbled by your presence,
touched by your love,
and hopeful for .... everything.

You are there.

Time Waits For No One.. Treasure Every Moment

I stole this from my friend Brandi's facebook profile.  Apparently, it has been around for a while, but I had never seen it and thought it was absolutely AMAZING!!

To realize
The value of a  sister/brother
Ask  someone
Who doesn't have one.

To  realize
The value of ten  years:
Ask a  newly
Divorced couple.

To  realize
The value of  four years:
Ask a  graduate.

To  realize
The value of one  year:
Ask a student  who
Has failed a  final exam

To  realize
The value of  nine months:
Ask a mother who  gave birth to a  stillborn.

To  realize
The value of one  month:
Ask a  mother
Who has given  birth to
A premature  baby.

To  realize
The value of one  week:
Ask an editor of  a weekly  newspaper.

To  realize
The value of one  minute:
Ask a  person
Who has missed  the train, bus or  plane..

To  realize
The value of  one-second:
Ask a  person
Who has survived an  accident.

Time waits for  no one.

Treasure every  moment you have.

You will  treasure it even more  when
You can share it  with someone  special.

To realize the  value of a friend or family  member:

LOSE  ONE.

Thirty Minutes...

If thirty minutes is all I have,
then why not start with a kiss,
the type that feels like bliss.

If thirty minutes is all I have,
then why not start with a smile,
then maybe you can stay for a while.

If thirty minutes is all I have,
then why not dare to touch,
the way I love it so much.

If thirty minutes is all I have,
then maybe we should sit in silence,
and then we'll see what we feel defies science.

If thirty minutes is all I have,
then I shall do all those things,
because thirty minutes is a beautiful blessing.
