I know I said I was taking a blogging break, but due to my very well reserved excitement of this time of the year, I have come down with a nasty bug. So, in the midst of prednisone, antibiotic, nebulizing treatments and bed rest... One thing left to do... Write.
Today, I found an incredible website truthdig. Well, it all began when I received Pat Tillman's eulogy in my email today, taken from his mother's book, and as I started to research more about Tillman's real cause of death, I stumbled upon truthdig. I've come across many essay/column/short story websites, but none like this one. I was enthralled immediately.
Two seconds into the site, I saw one of the most magical pictures I have seen in a very long time. The picture of the two lesbians kissing, as one of them (a service woman) returns home. I know the picture is kind of old news, but I hadn't seen it until today, and I found it absolutely magical.
I was literally overjoyed by it's simplicity, sincerity and display of genuine love. Of course... Those are my perceptions.
After gazing at the picture for a long time... I realized, I'm capable of loving a woman just as I am of loving a man. I have never considered a relationship with a woman before, but I think that I would not turn away from it...
As I write this on my mobile blogging app, doing my nebulizing treatment, my head is bombarded with fear, apprehension and self doubt to the same degree my heart is overwhelmed with a liberating feeling. Although this is not an official "coming out" statement... It's an admission that I feel love is love regardless of gender..
I commend that service lady for being a heroine in all senses... And all the gays and lesbians who constantly have to fight to prove to some of the world that they are perfect just as they are. Some even fight for the freedom we enjoy today.
Well, that's it for tonight.. Maybe for the year. GO GAYS!!
Happy holidays everyone! And, check out truthdig.com.
