The Little Box

I must start this blog by giving props to Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of that little site so many of us connect and exchange thoughts, ideas, feelings... many facets of our lives.  Genius.

Facebook is not only a social media networking site, but I know that for many, it's also a place of release and belonging.  One can spend hours networking, commenting, inspiring, aspiring and sharing.  Again, truly genius.

The reason for the blog, though, is not Facebook in general.  It's about my favorite little component of the design of the page - the little box underneath our pictures.  That little box is where we soar out of our own "boxes."  It's a place where we can exercise our right of free speech and not worry about any comments, likes, dislikes, etc.  It's a place for us, facebookers, and for us only.

Since opening up an account I have changed my box three times...(I'm almost sure it's only been three times).  The first time, I quoted Einstein, "I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity."  The second time, I had, "Om Namah Shivaya" - a Sanskrit saying - It means "I bow to Shiva." Shiva is the supreme reality, the inner Self. It is the name given to consciousness that dwells in all. Shiva is the name of your true identity- your self.  It's a very powerful mantra.  Recently, I just changed my little box to, "My journey is deep into myself, down a thousand ladders. My horizons expand with every downward step."  Every time, I've changed my little box, it was to reflect a certain period or transformation in my life.  All, however, inclining towards my own inward journey; a journey of self-knowledge and understanding... In my other facebook page (Camile Araujo - The Voice Within), the little box reads, "Inquisitive soul, aspiring author, world changer, life creator, love spreader, enlightenment seeker, universal lover, people inspirer... One day, one step at a time..."

The reason why I think the little box is a big deal is because, the little box is a bit of the deal breaker for me... I think that the little box is a place where our true selves can be exposed, there is no right or wrong thing to write in it, as long as it is TRUE to the person who writes it.  There are two little boxes, so far, that have caught my attention and their words resonate with me.  Almost as if the little boxes' owners wrote them about me...

The first is of no surprise, because the little box belongs to my kindred soul, Nancy Azoulay.  Her little box reads, "I arrogantly believe that strong faith, compassion, and spirituality need no organized religion. - me"  I love that statement.  Its assertiveness is kind but true... And I know it comes from her heart...

The second little box that has stuck with me is Nina Hilario's.  Her little box is AWESOME (for lack of a better word)... just pure awesomeness... Nina captured my attention, and I feel as if she cut me open and read my soul.  It reads, "mountain climber. ground breaker. paradigm shifter. gravity defy-er. flyer. flyer..." I can't get enough of that little box.

I'm sure that are millions of other great little boxes out there.. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to go checking one by one..I wish I did though.  I like reading people's out of the box thoughts in their own little boxes.

If you have come across any good little boxes, feel free to add them too...

my friend jillian has this in her little box: "Being grateful is the quickest way to a happy day! Whatever I'm facing today, I'll know that the spirit within me also gives me the qualities I need to survive."
