Living My Element With Sylwia - Day 3

Yesterday, after I posted Day 2's blog on Sylwia's page, she replied with this loving comment:

"Be easy on yourself and take it slow. If you try everything at once, you'll get frustrated soon. Don't judge yourself, just observe, and smile :-)"

I don't know why, but I felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted off my shoulders.  "Yes!" I thought.  "Why am I rushing through this process and trying to find the immediate results from it?"  Well, I know why.  It's a typical response from someone who is accustomed to getting quick results from fad diets that only work temporarily, or as long as you stick religiously to that diet.  I am not on a diet.  I am listening to my body.  I am learning to hear and feel the signs it is constantly giving me, and with that knowledge, I'll instinctively know what to eat, when to eat it and whether or not it is a food that I will get the most from.

Day 3 has been a breeze.  It's actually been fun.   Today, I just listened to my body.  I ate when I was hungry.  I took my time in choosing my food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I didn't rush into anything just because I was starving, and wanted a quick fix to my hunger pains.  Actually, I never got to the point of starvation today. My body spoke to me.  It, gently, reminded me that it needed fuel.  I gave it what it asked for.

Sylwia has been a wonderful support system, because she bombards me with lots of knowledgeable information via email and I'm delighted to read about it and become more conscientious of what I'm ingesting.  The blood type correlation with food certainly has played a big role on how I am feeding my body.  It has made sense for me.  So has my increase of liquid intake.

I'm proud to announce that I did 15 minutes on my vita glide today.  I did enough until my shoulder blade said "okay, I'm good for today." I obeyed its request.  Any other time, I would have medicated myself to push through the pain and done a whole hour.  Not this time.  Pain is something I deal with, and I have a feeling that I can help the pain with exercise, however, in the beginning, I will listen to it and not overdo it.

It's a slow, steady process.  The best thing about it is that I am realizing now it is a win-win situation at the end of the learning process - the 6 months with Sylwia.  It's a lot more than methodical food planning, rights and wrongs, it's about getting to know myself, paying attention to the beautiful body of mine and treating it as the temple that it is.  It is about giving myself the respect and honor I deserve.  From this day forward, I've actually begun to really enjoy the journey and as Sylwia advised me, I'm easy on myself, no judgment, taking it slow and watching the process unfold, smiling all the way.
